Naba’

Designer: Hure Thaher
Artisan: Piccirillo Center

Naba’ is a contemporary ceramic planter that reimagines Palestinian pottery through the integration of sustainable functionality and traditional craftsmanship.

The project incorporates a self-watering irrigation system that promotes water-conscious plant care while maintaining the structural and aesthetic qualities of handmade ceramics. Inspired by the Palestinian landscape, hand-carved surface patterns reference the relationship between land, water, and growth, transforming the planter into an object that connects cultural heritage with everyday living.

Through the combination of traditional pottery techniques and contemporary product design, Naba’ demonstrates how craft knowledge can evolve to address modern needs. The project positions ceramics not only as a cultural expression, but also as a functional material capable of supporting sustainable practices in contemporary homes.
